Short-term trips

Short-term trips provide the opportunity to serve the people of Central Asia. They can also be a way of supporting our long-term workers. The short-term trips range from a few weeks to a few months in duration. The types of short-term trips available include:

  • Teaching English or Computer Skills
  • Prayer walks
  • Working on one of our projects
  • Specialist medical trips
  • Practical help as a handy person
  • Study and Cultural trips

We may also be able to accommodate individual trips to the field, particularly if you have a specialist skill or if you are considering long-term service overseas.

If you would like more information about the short-term trips, please contact us

 Becoming a servant-worker

Central Asia is a real pioneering challenge. No other area of the world provides as big a challenge. You’ll live in a very different culture where things are done very differently. And you’ll have no choice but to rely on God every day.

Are you ready for the challenge? Committed to serving the people of Central Asia? Prepared to trust God to supply all your needs? Then don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime!

We have many openings in teams throughout Central Asia and there are new fields to be developed by those with a pioneering spirit. We will explore the possibilities with you to help you find your effective area of service. We will help you to be adequately equipped for service and provide you with on-going training and support.

People International places a strong emphasis on teams. Workers are placed in existing teams wherever possible, or teams are built up around them, in order to strengthen individual ministries, to combine resources and to aim for mutual goals.

To be a servant-worker you will need:

  • compassion for the needya heart for the spiritually lost
  • the support of your home church / prayer group
  • the ability to adapt to the local culture
  • the ability to work in hard situations
  • a willingness to learn a new language
  • a willingness to work in close co-operation with a cross-cultural team

In order to be effective you will need to be looking at an initial commitment of at least two years. If this is not possible there are other opportunities, including short-term trips and one or two year internships.
